On the occasion of the international labor day

Like the international community, our  country  celebrates ttoday, Monday, 1 May 2017, the International Labor Day, which commemorates the militancy and the victories of workers throughout the world, for the achievement of their rights. On this occasion, the Union for the Republic congratulates all of the Mauritanian workers in the public and private sectors, and commend them for the progress achieved.

In this sense the UPR:

1 – values the important advances recorded by the Islamic Republic of Mauritania under the aegis of the founding President of the Republic HE.Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, in favor of the different categories of workers in particular in terms of increasing in salaries of civil servants, the total removal of taxs on small salaries, and their reduction on the other, as well as the application of these same benefits to the employees of the private sector. Added to this is the considerable increase in the SMIG and the update of the legal arsenal concerning the work and the terms and conditions of public servants and workers.

2 – calls for set of groupings, unions, organizations, and trade unions of workers, to put the Union action in the shelter of the Bidding and political conflict; as well as the strengthening of the legal and legislative framework in order to improve the partnership with the sectors executive authorities, the patronnât and foreign workers who exercise in our country.

3- welcomes the important role that it plays in the trade union organizations for the achievement of the grievances of the workers, and the commitment to the improvement of their conditions of life.

4- Thank governmental bodies for their continued commitment to the improvement of the general conditions of workers, as well as the strengthening and the application of the legal arsenal in the matter of the improvement of their working conditions. 5 – implore to Allah that rest in peace the souls of the martyrs of the trade union movement and says By the same occasion the sacred character of the trade union action. In conclusion, the UPR presents its best wishes on the occasion of the International Day of Workers, to all workers Mauritanians who militate with respect and responsibility in the interest of a Mauritania always strong, unified and prosperous. Long live the Mauritanian workers. Long live the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
