The Declaration Issued by the Coalition of the Majority Parties, Monday, 26th of December, 2016
We have viewed on some Moroccan media outlets, the statements of Hamid Shabbat, the secretary general of Al-Istiqlal party in which he considered the borders of Morocco to be expanding from Ceuta to the Senegalese valley, in addition to some other more offensive and uninformed pronouncements.
We, in the Coalition of the Majority Parties, strongly condemn these statements and consider them to be coming out from an imbalanced person who was supported by some fake journalists. We consider these statements to be the result of the great loss that the party suffered during the latest elections of October and the party’s rejection by the majority of Moroccans, a fact that led Hamid Shabbat to look for a savior through these announcements.
The Coalition of the Majority Parties, emphasize the fact that this sort of statements are to be seen as damaging to the common interests of peoples in both countries and to their historical relations, in a time of hardship and tough circumstances that the region and the world in general is undergoing which require from us to be looking more towards strengthening cooperation and coordination among our countries and to stay away from irritating manners and attitudes.
Once again, we condemn these statements and consider the union of the Arab Maghreb world to be a priority for both its leaders and peoples. We should all stand in the face of these kinds of provocations and stay away from exporting the internal and local party problems into the regional scene.
